Jesus With us: The Gift of the Eucharist
Ferri, J., & Tarzia, A. (1996). Jesus with us: The gift of the Eucharist. Australia, VIC: Children’s Spirituality. Jesus With us: The Gift of the Eucharist is an illustrated children’s book explaining the history of the Eucharist. Using simplistic language and a narrative writing style, the book retells the legacy of the Eucharist through Bible stories and actual historical events. This book also emphasises the importance of every Communion, recognising that each communion service is a special meeting with Jesus. This resource in the classroom will be a valued use, as it celebrates the Eucharist and gives an understanding to students such importance. Together At One Altar- Sent Forth On The Mission
National Catholic Education Commission. (2011). When the Mass concludes, Christians are given the mission to go out and live the Gospel through their lives. This is could be a service that expresses pure love and selflessness much like Jesus had made when he washed the feet of his Disciples. By first watching this video resource provided by Together At One Altar, learning opportunities that encourage students to actively record selfless acts through the school and the community could be devised. Keeping a diary entry of such is an excellent way for students to actively record their actions in a way that promotes the Gospel. How Full Is Your Bucket? For Kids
Book reference: Rath, T., & Manning, M. (2009). How full is your bucket?: For kids. New York: Gallup Press. Video reference: WillowCanonWildcats. (2012). How full is your bucket? For Kids. It takes the powerful message that the way we relate to others has profound effect on every aspect of our lives and tailors it to student needs and level of understandings. Using this resource in the classroom to emphasis the mission of Jesus in which Christians base their lives around can be made during class discussion. An activity to assist with the main idea of this story is provided below. |
